Erami

The Erami family's enterprise is traced here through Hossein and the company of his three sons Mohammad, Mehdi and Mahmoud. It connects design drawings, colour and weaving organisation, allowing the imagined image to become a layered handmade textile through collaboration.

Works and style

Contemporary works

The three sons' company works show an ability to organise the passage from drawing to textile. Simrokh presents company design, while Seven Heavens uses collaborative artwork originally created by Amir Garoosi. Reading these works invites attention to how colour carries the image and how weaving presents the drawing's details.

Haj Mahmoud Erami progressed from learning weaving as a boy to rug making and teaching. His three sons Reza, Akbar and Hossein continued the practice. Production in Hossein's branch was later carried forward by Mohammad and Mehdi, continuing the fine tradition of Qom silk rugs.

Family archive

This Erami family archive follows Hossein and his three sons' company. Mohammad, Mehdi and Mahmoud together constitute the company production line. Once designs and collaborative drawings enter production, colour, weaving and coordination across stages are still needed to complete a work.

Simrokh and Seven Heavens offer specific ways into understanding this production line. Amir Garoosi is credited for the latter's original artwork; the Erami company's contribution is its translation into textile. The image's author and production team each have a defined place, clarifying the collaboration.
